Uber collectable kits. Last viewed: 3 hours ago

I would agree as above = a Billy Gladstone kit would fit the "uber collectable kit's category. This kit is currently owned by Carl Palmer and it is for sale at this time. The bd, floor & rack toms were built for Morey Feld ....the snare with this kit was built for Cozy Cole. There is a drum battle video with Gene Krupa and Cozy Cole where you can see Cole playing this snare drum.Of the four kits Glastone built there are only two full sets surviving - this one and the one Chet Falzerano owns. The last four paragraphs at the maxwelldrums.com link below details the history of the kit. This photo and most of the information above were taken from the website link here:http://www.maxwelldrums.com/carl-palmers-billy-gladstone-drum-p-5910.html

Gary Carl has had this set For Sale for many years he even dropped the price to $25,000.00. it has even been played on ELP shows, Celebrity owned multiple times, and documentation to boot ??

I don't think that it is all original though. The picture showed machine head lug attachment screws, the cymbal mounts are missing, a tom hoop is replaced, floor tom legs replaced, a funny tone control, and are those bass drum claws original? They look different than the old pics.

For uber collectible, shouldn't it actually be accessible by us? I think that any Cadillac green Gretsch gets into uber collectible, even in crappy shape. The new ones are a horrible imitation, and the green doesn't even look right. Imagine if a Cadillac Green 12, 14, 18 3 ply showed up? Through the roof.

Any Ringo, Roach, Watts, Mitchell, Bonham on the market? Through the roof.

Short list. Most have higher value to one or two people out to collect every echo.

Bun E Carlos owned that kit for a while also.

Just Imagine,Gladstone made those drums in a one room apartment in Manhattan.

Yes - Steve Maxwell does describe some of the replacements of this kit. However, as he does point out, given the rarity of the drums overall these issues are minor. For instance......I would buy them in a heartbeat if I had the money. I have a passion for Gladstone and Gretsch drum history. You have to follow your passion I think. And, I am with you regarding the Cadi Green drums. I have only one original drum - a 9x13 rack tom - and I pulled out all stops to win it on eBay and never regretted it. I'm not rich.....just passionate about some drums and drum history.
