i aquired yesterday three vintage snares from a retiring professor, one of them is a ludwig from before ww2. from my research the only drum that i've seen that looks anything like this is the silver anniversary edition. now saying that i don't claim it is one, though i do think this is a 1936 edition with some special order duco on it. inside the shell is stamped 3612 in big blue ink. any help is appriciated.

PHOTO'S UP!

discription:

5x14

solid wood

oval badge (enamel badge)

this should help? your drum on the left? except you have the strainer system on the drum to the right. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/images/ludwig_sets/1935-ludwig-drum-sets.jpg

the images. and guys this professor is the head of the music department of a very reputable school. he asked Bill Ludwwig himself about this drum, but i think given the circumstances of the meeting, time was short and the answer wasn't entirely accurate.

also be aware that calfskin heads are on the drum and he installed (no drilling required) two piano heaters to keep the heads warm during p[laying so they wouldn't stretch. he used this thing!! beautiful sounding drum.

on to the images!
