Bcarey13 - thanks for the info & pics!! I was about to head to his place tomorrow.
He did send me one pic of the bass w a hole.
I am curious why there are holes in all of them.

Many snares
Maybe they belonged to *Wilson Picket's drummer! LOL
John
* There's an old story about Wilson Picket pulling a gun on a drummer on-stage because the cat wasn't keeping good time!
You're welcome. I hate for anyone to make a trip without those facts. The strange thing is he is an extremely nice guy on the phone but strange how he ignores all the holes in his photos, I mean..goes so far as to arrange things and take specific angles to hide them. I was horrified when I showed up, and I know Marko52 was disappointed in the outcome. I bet he has had a lot of disappointed people show up.
I have no idea, and he says he doesn't either about where they came from. My first thought was internal mics, but there is no other evidence to support it. Maybe it was an angry wife or girlfriend with with a thing for drills. :)
well well the truth comes out, theses drums are not being sold with the intentions of cheating or lying the owner said its a players set he just did not know value, I've been talking to him since they were first listed nice guy just does not know drums, and going to his "home" and seeing them in person and ripping him a new one after he lets you take pics is not right just to let everyone here know it... there was no intent to lie here... but asking us if is it worth 2500 so as to buy and flip sucks What are we turning into here....cut throats and when the deal is not what we want we burn the seller i don't think that's what we do here at VDF...I think appraisals should stop .:2Cents:

Am I missing something here, Gary? Just popped back on & read the above & I guess I don't see anyone ripping anyone anything. Seeing that I'm the one who brought up 2500 for what looked like a very nice kit, albeit in puny photos & knowing zip about it, I chimed in when I thought the prior # was on the low side.
It is funny there are no holes in the pics & you'd have to hike out there to discover this. Seems like a service to those out in MA not to gas up their cars all for disappointment. Also think much of what this forum is about is being helpful, advising others with whatever questions come up.
Honestly, when I 1st saw Dionne's post & the followup I thought he'd bought high & thought it be nice to hear another prospective. Nothing worse than dropping large only to learn that you made a mistake.
Appraisals, by nature, are all over the place. I think most people know to take them with a grain of salt.
Maybe I'm misreading your post - but it practically seems aimed right at me when all I was doing was giving my 2 cents -
Chris
Chris - Gary - I think you are both misreading some of the comments.
Chris - Gary wasn't referring to you. He was upset because he thought the seller is not being intentionally deceptive and he feels, that he's being mistreated here. I don't think he meant you in any way. I could be wrong and misreading, all of you, but that's what I got from it.
Gary - I'm going to quote from a Batman line: "It's not who you are inside that matters, it's what you do that defines you!" The seller may be the the nicest guy in the world with no bad intentions, but... if he's not showing obvious flaws in the drums to prospective buyers in his photos, or verbally informing them of the flaws, plus making people come out to the house to find out for themselves after making a trip out there, is just self-serving and bad business. Bcarey is trying to give everybody a heads up about it. If it helps even one guy to avoid burning all that gas and having to go home disappointed and angry, then bcarey is doing a good deed by warning us about it. It's no judgement on the sellers character or intentions, just a report on a possible waste of time for anyone interested.
Peace in the valley... everybody is right and nobody is wrong. The points that all of you guys made are valid. Just a simple case of crossed wires.

Thanks John. Everyone should have a say who wants it.
Looks like this is getting uncivil & should be yanked. All I have to say: it's Craigslist not CHRISTIE'S! Photos are almost always never worth a thousand words: especially w/ vintage drums. Just bought a kit yesterday that looked like Christy Brinkley on the screen but when I get there it's Christy after 10 years of meth addiction, teeth yellow and missing. She's now headed to rehab.
Anyway - Chris
