[QUOTE=MickM;207023]Good thread John! The Purdie Shuffler is the only member I've met and the few times we got together his advice and explanation of technique has allowed me to advance much faster than I would've on my own. Many thanks John!

You're most welcome and - it's time for another lesson!

I was so very lucky to have had two GREAT teachers early on. It's not only a privilege to pass it on, it's a ton of fun for me to do it. I love seeing the progress in the few people I have coached over the years and with who I shared what I have learned. But, all the credit goes to the cats who taught me. Sure, as students we all do the hard work, put in the endless hours practicing, but if it wasn't for the guys who taught us 'how to play' the work would be much harder and the progress much slower. So, here's to great teachers!

Call me man, you're well overdue for some 'next-level' shiznit!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I gave my lil' blurb earlier in the thread, but here's a recent pic of me rockin the '58 Luddy's at a car show I played in Downey, CA. I'll have to look around (and scan) an early picture of myself behind some drums...but they won't be vintage...my first kit was a crappy 90's CB700! I like the drums below much better!

Here's a question ... How the heck did this thread gain over 600 hits in only a day and a half? This does not compute. Who the heck is just clicking this thread and checking it every ten minutes? There's only 34 responses. Come on, fess up.

That must mean a lot of people are looking and not voting! Guess they don't want to admit how old they are...

Not a chance. This was a holiday weekend ... and to be honest, as neato of a topic this is, it ain't mesmerizing. The numbers are WAY skewed. Someone is clicking to check this thread quite often ... and driving up the numbers. Check the numbers on some of the other threads started yesterday. It don't pan out. Not even close. Hundreds and hundreds off.

Come on, who's got the clicky fever? Who's playing 'click the mouse' like there's no tomorrow? Who's got a bet laid down on the thread hit totals?

Someone's having a grand old mousy mouse mouse click fest time. Cool Dude

Oh dear.

I admit clicking on it once to vote, and then clicking on it again to see how others voted later.

And then clicking on it to read the whole three or four pages.

and then clicking on it to post, but changed my mind

and then clicking on it again and seeing its gone viral

So I thought I had better post this time.

I turned 52 today. But Wednesday is my birthday.

I could post a pic of me with the same kit almost 30 years apart.... but that would mean taking it out of a frame, and scanning it and uploading and all that time and ... well.

I do still own the first kit I ever bought. At least, most of it, well, some of it.

Anyway, it is the same kit, just some of the sizes changed.

The end of May began my 63rd pass around the sun. I posted a couple of these pics about a year or so ago, maybe time to do it again...lol

My Dad bought me a used set of 48-52 WFL's in late 1965.

Joined The Keynotes in 1966, me and our bassist/lead singer Fred clowning in front of his house in Flushing, Queens NYC where we practiced/jammed in 1967. Fred went on to become my closest lifelong friend.

Me, as usual, transfixed by my cymbals "wobble" in 1967. Still do the same thing.

Me, in summer of 2010. Very same drums and cymbals. (Well, the sticks are different...lol) Still play the same set.

And, especially for LeedyBDP. We had the same jackets in The Keynotes, just blue instead of red.....snazzy!

I admit it! Today was a day for sloppy joes, haluski, and the Clint Eastwood marathon on TNT. With that said, I never even dressed more than underwear and a wife beater, and I have been clicking away on the site all day long, and every time someone new posted, I checked it out! The cat is out of the bag, R/S......LoLoLoLo
