See your family physician. You need a 'professional' diagnosis. Could be muscular, nerve, brain related. Only a doctor can tell you which. I wouldn't ignore it though.

Not sure if it's related to a pinched nerve, but are you having any other "non-drumming" symptoms like speech, fine motor skills or memory?

I'd get into the doctor, as soon as possible to get this figured out.

I'm in pretty good health otherwise and nothing speech wise.

Was just testing it out again and I'm about half way back to normal so I probably jumped the gun. Hoping it's just age related and maybe I over did it.

I'll definitely go to my DR if it lingers or doesn't improve.

I have had the same problem for years. For me it happens more frequently whenever I've gone about a week or more without playing. It only happens when I play heels up. I never have the problem when I play flat footed. I now switch back and forth when I have problems. If I'm gigging 2-3 times a week I don't have any problem. I have a lot of arthritis in my toes and ball of my foot. If I go to the doctor he just tells me I should quit playing. Ain't gonna happen!

I think if your playing heal up you are going to get the the odd 'spasm' in your calf muscles, I usually play heal down, however when I'm playing with the loud guys- loud amplified stuff I've ' noticed that my foot is actually in a heal up position, if I am playing that way I'm not actually that aware of it!Eye Ball

I just found it strange that, out of the blue, a drummer which has built up memory muscle and coordination over many years, suddenly loses that ability.

I play the double strokes heal up but 4 on the floor flat footed. I think it was all muscular/fatigue but I freaked as that has never happened before to me. I would hate to be in the middle of a gig and have this happen.

My wife also suggested stroke, possible too, haven't been out loony hiking for quite some time either as drumming has taken the front seat again of late :)

I have a rehearsal tonight with a big band so I hope my foot comes back to me in time...
