Vintage Gretsch Drum Set Last viewed: 18 minutes ago

Hi all,

New here. I have a Midnight Blue Pearl Gretsch Set that I would like to sell, but not sure what the value is. Model 4415. It has 1 mounted tom, one floor, snare, bass drum, a Zildjian Ride and crash (missing the 3 sizzle rivots), no high hats. Missing all bottom skins and hardware except the snare. It is in pretty decent condition, but far from perfect.

I have had this set since the early 70's, bought it used so it is most likely a 60's set.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Pete

Ok, here are a couple. I had to resize, so I am not sure how they will look.

Blair, your message box is full, so here is the reply: No idea yet, just pulled it out of storage and I am researching the value.

That set should spiff up nicely. This Gretsch set was made shortly before the drum manufacturers just assumed that they could force feed generic metal snare drums to people wanting new drum sets. I always wanted (and still want) a top quality wood shell snare drum in factory matched wrap to the drum set. If I ever get the desire to use a metal snare drum with any of my vintage sets, I have a Rogers Power Tone COB or a Black Galaxy Acrolite. That Acro sounds very much like a good wood shell snare with a bit more "pop". I also have a couple incomplete project snare drums that are both Slingerlands with Zoomatic strainers.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Pete what are the sizes, 20".13",16"? And this color is and was one of Gretsch's most popular colors, I had a 50's Brodkaster kit in this color MBP

Looks like 20, 14, 12, floor tom 14 if I am measuring correctly.

ride 20.5 crash 19.25

Pete I don't have the year model catalog of your kit, but it is in the progressive jazz configuration, that model having a metal snare drum instead of a wooden one like your kit has, and the Progressive jazz kit model # is 4025 in my 1964 gretsch catalog.

Thanks, I don't know where to find a kit model no., but the drums each have their own. The model in my orig. post was from the mounted tom.

Pete all the tags in all the shells have the same model# 4415 though correct?

No, the floor tom is 4417 snare 4157, bass tag missing.
