No bottom rims. Tension Rods...are you talking about the 2 internal dampers, adjustable from the outside? If so yes. I never remember this set having anything other than the bottom rings. In my youth, I stupidly lost them.

gretsch prices actually all vintage drum prices as of late have been crazy. your sizes and color are desirable how desirable well still would need to know what all issue the kit has, what p[arts are and are not original, condition of the shells, wrap etc? also to use ebay as a guide now eBay charges 14% on final value sales that has had an effect on sales also so hard to gauge.

The set is all original. When I first got it used, was in mint condition. The wraps have held up surprisingly well. No cracks in shells. Snare wires need work as well as bottom head replacement.

I really appreciate your help on this.

No they are the rods that you tune the drum with that mount the rim to the drum head, the rims are die cast and in those sizes are very expensive to reacquire.

Oh, I know what you are talking about, no just for the snare, and one on the bass.

Pete here is a quick evaluation on your kit on the plus side.1- color2-sizes3-complete kit here is the negative side1- missing wooden and rim inlay for 20" bass drum rim and tension rods and hoop claw's2- missing 12" die cast rim and tension rods and washers3-14" die cast rim tension rods and washers. 4-plus would have to see detailed pics of the bearing edges without the rims, they usually get beat up

Seems like an accurate assessment. I just looked on ebay, found my snare, they have it at $747 buy it now, no bids though. Any ballpark of what I should ask for this set? I may try to sell locally as I do not want to deal with shipping this.

Gretsch kits from that era in those sizes are fetching extremely good prices these days. Gretsch collectors are especially fanatical, and the 20/14/12 configuration is the most popular.

The missing bottom rims will be a problem, and do check the bottom bearing edges for damage--when the bottom rims go missing, the edges often get dinged up.

Not sure what the right dollar figure is, but leaving aside the issues with the missing items, that's a very desirable kit you've got.

If you clean it up, whether or not you replace the missing parts, you will bring more. One thing though, NEVER EVER use steel wool on the nickel or chrome parts, it will kill the value. Taking the lugs off and cleaning them is the best way to get them shining, and many of us use Turtle Wax Rubbing Compound to get the shine back.

New heads may or may not make a difference, but at least clean the ones you have. Also, I would resist any urge to separate this kit as it is extremely difficult to find one oh the kits in complete, almost original condition. Also, it seems as if you are getting emails from people that are in the background. Be mindful, there may be offers far below actual value.
