SONOR alternated from heartwood to sapwood with the plies. that looks stained sapwood. SONOR always veneered heartwood to the insides of the upper end drums. It had a reddish tint to it when clear coated.

and they sound great so I am not going to touch them....they kill my Ludwig Standards drum for drum .... but wait No the bass drum sounds better in an open tuning on the Luddys ... (-: ...when muffled its virtually a tie with every other 22" bass drum
Sapwood huh? interesting ....thank you
That inside of the 13" is no Beechwood! Thats what i think! I am with Oddball they are rewrapped!
Pics are always cool:-)
I don't believe you are correct about that my friend ...the floor tom and the 12 are beech with no reinforcements but the 13 and 22 are darker with reinforcements ...I think you jump to quickly to that conclusion ...I will take some more pics of the other drums if you like ?
The FT has latter brackets and not straight legs, not Action or Rocker or Medely, or Ranger. Swinger whent through at least three eras, that FT (legs/Bracket)is Swinger.
I`d like to see all with heads off.
Again, SONOR Stored shells after finish and edges cut. Drilling and trim came after order. All were Beechwood in the 70`s with veneered hardwoods like Rosewood and Oak on upper end drums.
If you have re-rings and thick shells, you have different series mix. The wrap came from the same place. The stain is **** p[oor workmanship.
