Vintage Thrones..........ouch Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Did they hate drummers back in the day? I've gotten 2 different vintage seats.. one's a ludwig that's the size of a bike seat.... ick... and one that is the shape of a bike seat that's hard as a rock.. It's like they are trying to kill my bum.

I've got an older "Can Seat" that's OK.. but I havn't found a vintage one that didn't stink.

First thing to check is if the padding has dried out and lost any softness to sit on. 40 year old foam doesn't "sit well". I had a couple of vintage thrones redone and they work well.

You wouldn't keep 40 yo heads on your shells, so redo the foam and check that out.

Speak for yourself..seems like almost every snare I pick up has 40 year old heads on it.

i have an old ludwig throne thats always been my fav. its still soft. its late 60's-early70's. and its way better than my dw 9000 (9000's kinda like sitting on a rock). but then again theres just something about wobling all over the place while your playing. kinda like being in a rocking chair once you get it down.

way fun on an old set, with old stands.

I own several vintage ludwig drummers thrones, No thank you comfortable they are not and mine still have good padding just not enough of it!, I spend hours behind the kit, I don't want uncomfortable, I'll keep this great old pork pie tractor seat throne. soft, supporting and COMFY!!

Your drummers not much good is he!? What you need is someone that's as good as me. ! John Henry Bonham !!

The one Ludwig I have has good padding... just not much... the whole seat is like an inch and half thick... I have to post a picture of this other thing... it's a riot. Some of the photos of old Sonor thrones are laughable too.

Use that same throne, its the most comfortable seat in the house!

Here's the one I'm actually using set up with my set. I really don't think it's bad, the only problem is that it wobbles. . .
