Finally! Dreams do come true! For 10 years I've been looking for an ASBA set. The opportunity finally fell into lap my last friday night. There was this set for sale on Ebay right here in LA! The guy was asking 2 grant for the set but after some dealing we agreed on a price, and I finally brought it home. The guy didn't have a clue how the set ended up in LA but here it is. A 99% original ASBA made in France, stainless steel set on 9x13,8x14!x16x16,14x22 and matching 5x14 snare. The only non original parts on the set are the heads. All is there: down to the last washer! Even the two super cool drum keys which are built-in the snare and floor tom shell! Boy, the drums are heavy! Brass hardware over steel shells...I'm speechless...I have a fair amount of Camcos, Ludwigs, Rogers, Grestch, Slingerlands, Fibes...Even some Premier and Haymans...Let me tell you guys: These are second to none. The quality of the chrome, the design and the elegance...I cannot find the words to describe them and then THE SOUND...a tad drier and not as loud as the Ludwig SS but the low end and the sustain are superb.

I'm sharing some pics of my Mademoiselle. I'm calling the set like that because it means "Lady" in France. This Lady finally found her way home...Enjoy!

Check the ratched floor tom leg brackets. It allows you to angle the legs for more stability. The drum key is pretty much "sucked in" by the rubber that surrounds the vent hole.(Which doubles as vent hole and key holder)Theres two rail mounts for the triple ratched tom holders. Allowing you to set the toms closer or a liitle away from your position. The bearing edges are protected by a U-shape polyethylene cover. (Pics of that later). Most internal fittings include rubber for killing any rattles. (Drum key,Mufflers and the amazing bass drum muffler).

These French drums really deserve a higher place on the vintage drum community's appreciation scale. People is starting to catch up on how well made European drums are. Hayman, Meazzy and Asba are just as good as any of the American vintage drum brands. Blair: I know you've always been an European drums fan. Do you still have that Meazzy set? I have a 9x13 tom and a 5x14 snare but on different finishes. Looking for floor tom and bass drum. My friend Paolo Sburlatti told me that the american brand C&C bought all the remaining wrap from Meazzy and they were wrapping some sets with those amazing finishes
