Man that first combo was very cool. I really dig that snare. Both great sounding videos. If there ever was a perfect match that first video shows you had the right snare for the job.

Thanks! I am really happy with that Reliance snare. I almost sold it and I am glad that I hung onto it because it goes really well with that WFL kit. I hope to find a Buddy Rich model snare to pair with it some day.

Lovin' that Reliance with the WFL! Great sound and great playing. Thanks for that.

The leaning seems to be toward the Reliance and WFL sound, but the venues were quite different being inside and outside gigs and differing overall band configurations. I'd be interested to know if you chose the kits for the two differing venues for a particular reason or if it was a random pick. It might be a nice comparison to hear the same kit for both venues and then reverse it. From what I heard, the Reliance has a really cracking tone. As Mark mentioned, nice double strokes on the Letter. Thanks for sharing those.
Very good sound on both sets.Good cymbal sound too.IN both gigs everything fits in very well with the music.Vehicle takes me back to the mid 70's.I played it on a double bass(22") clear Vistalite set. What a great tune and you guys hit it right on a perfect groove.Tempo was just as I think it should be.Your playing and these drum sets make for some beautiful music.Oh what to use, what to use.Ain't it a beautiful problem?Keep on keepin' on!Jim
Example of Rogers,Slingerland,Gretsch,Premier and Ajax sets.
Various '60's and '70's US,English and Japanese snare drums.

I usually pick a kit for a specific gig. For the classic country stuff, I'll use the WFL kit normally but sometimes my early 70s 3ply Ludwig kit in red sparkle. Actually.. mostly the 3ply kit and sometimes the WFL.
For the funk gigs I like using the Clubdate kit. I also use the red sparkle 3ply kit as well alot with this band. Never have I used the WFL kit with the funk band but maybe ill try it out one day on an indoor gig.
The times that I pick up blues/classic rock gigs, it's normally the Ludwig 3ply kit with my Acrolite snare
Some of the difference could be in the sound quality of the recording as well. The phone is an older Samsung Galaxy S4 and at the outdoor gig we were using floor monitors therefore the stage volume was loud, which resulted in the slight distortion at times. The indoor gig with the WFL kit, I was set up behind the amps and had no floor monitors so the stage volume wasn't as loud.
Thanks for the compliments sir!

Thanks Jim for your comments! I used to have a clear vistalite kit.. sold it awhile back and I am still kicking my self for doing that. It had a 20" floor tom with it, factory, if you can believe that!
