WFL Drums Last viewed: 5 minutes ago

I just picked up a WFL kit in a black diamond pearl finish. There are no extra holes, the wrap is tight and it seems to be all original. The badges say WFL Drum Co. and there is a st. address on the bottom, there is no date on any drum. They are 3ply mahogany shells with maple reinforcement hoops, thanks.

8x12 tom

16x16 floor tom

Well, if you just picked 'em up and are going to sell them, photos rule. I'm looking for a BDK outfit. Any more info?

They are probobly early to mid 50's. They started stamping dates in WFL drums around 1955-56 and it was done with red lettering. Sometimes the dates could be hard to see with the african mohogany interior especially if the date has faded. Looking at them though they seem more like early 50's to me. Check the insides of the shells closely for any stamps. For some reason the date stamps I have found have been closer to the badge hole where later on in the 60's the date could be seen from looking through the hole. Hope this helps. It's a great looking set.

The snare and kick have a slight greening, but it's not bad, I cleaned the kick and it matches better than it did when I first got them. The tags on the two toms say Brookstein's Drum Shop out of Houston, Texas, but are no longer in business, they seem to be glued on.

Here's a short video tour, I'm kinda surpised I havn't gotten more hits, maybe this will ease those skeptics minds about how nice this 50+year old kit really is.

Question: you said no extra holes but there are clearly holes in the top of the kick. Care to,comment? I'm interested but this is a big selling point. Thanks.
