What did you buy at the 2014 Chicago show? Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I bought a Ludwig club date 14x14 in WMP to finish a set I got a couple years back at a salvation Army store. I had been looking for one for a couple of years and the dealer knew that and wouldn't budge on his price. I finally got him to budge a little bit and made a deal but probably overpaid. But if you factor in how little I paid for the bass and small tom it averages out nicely. Found a new Kerope Zildjian I really wanted but had to leave it behind (too much $). Maybe if I had gone back on Sunday I would have found lower prices, then again the drum I wanted may have already been gone by then.

I would have loved to be able to attend the show. I wish there could be a show in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, or Orlando. I would definitely go. I know there are several Florida based members here. Maybe I should get with the guys at Resurrection Drums and see if anything could be organized down south.

26 x 14 Ludwig bass from, 1930s. Single tension. Needs some work, but worth every nickel. Going to round out my Levon Helm / Fred Young / Ryno-esque kit.

14" paperthin K Istanbul (1950s?) splash for $65.

16" paperthin Zilco splash, 1940s

misc. hardware, fibercase

Well, I went in looking for a 14x26 Radio King bass drum from the late 40s in faded gold sparkle. Also was looking for a 1966 Ludwig bass drum in nice unfaded BDP----and a yellow Radio King 16x16 from 1955....ended up buying this 1983 Yamaha 8000 series 14x24 bass drum to expand my 22/10/12/13/16 kit. It polished/paste waxed up real nice!

I got a good shape MIJ Root Beer Swirl wrap kit. 12/13/16/20-No Snare. They are the later MIJ's with the thick shells and painted gray interiors. The lugs are Slingerland copies and say "Pearl" inside of them. I am cleaning them up now; I'll post photos when they are done. I got them from the Ultraphonic Custom Drum booth. They are located in Madison, Wisconsin. I like their badge; it looks like a 45 record. That booth was at the end of a row close to the clinic stage. I took the head off the floor tom and had Stanton Moore sign the inside of the shell after his clinic!

I also got a Slingerland "Jam Session" snare 6.5" x 14" metal (chrome) in perfect condition with Stick Saver Hoops for $40! In addition, I got a 6.5" x 14" Ludwig metal (chrome) snare with a Black/White badge in perfect condition for $50! It might be a "Rocker" snare, but it looks a little more modern. And two very nice, brand new snare bags for each drum for a total of $30! This was at the McCourt's Music booth, which was located at the opposite corner of the room from the clinic stage.

I'm sure I ran into (unknowingly) a few of you there. I was only there on Saturday.

Anyone know more about the Slingerland "Jam Session" snare? That's what the badge says, no other badges or markings are present. I'm guessing it may have been a cheaper, student line back in the day. Still, it looks great and sounds great-and with Stick Saver hoops-not bad for $40!
