What did you regret selling? Last viewed: 2 minutes ago

MOST of what I've sold I've later regretted. I'm fickle, after a while I grow tired of something and sell or trade and then later I find myself longing for the drums or cymbals I've sold.

My greatest regret is selling my first kit a silver sparkle Dixie stencil kit I got for Christmas in '69, purchased from Kent drums retail outlet in Kenmore NY.

I guess it's sentimentality.

1958 Gretsch Kit
1966 Kent Kit
1969 Ludwig Standard Kit
1970 Rogers Power Tone Kit
1970's Ludwig Vistalite Kit
1994 Yamaha Maple Custom
2010 Yamaha Maple Custom
28 assorted snares (including some real crap)
and 1 really nice K Zildjian Istanbul

a rusty old slingy Sound King COB. I know you can buy them all over, and this one was rusty and all, but it was just right. the other ones i have seen just didn't seem the same...

I'm about to part with a gretsch rb kit in bdp that i don't even play, its a backup kit. But just tapping the tom gets me giddy so i have been slow to ebay it. ...shells great, wrap not so great. but all original and close serial # in the 4 digit range.

66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I only have two items that I have ever sold that I regret and they both have slightly different stories.

1. My 1928 4"x14" Ludwig Deluxe (Black Beauty) that I sold 14 years ago durring a time when my exwife and I were both out of work and had 4 kids to feed. The stipulation was that if the buyer ever decided to sell then I asked if he would give me right of first refusal. Long story short here, the guy that bought it ended out of work and called me last year and sold it back to me. My grandfather bought it brand new and gave it to my father who gave it to me. Was elated to get it back.

2. About 7 years ago I sold my fathers set of Rogers drums. It was 1964 Holiday series kit (12,13,14,16,22) in a pink champagne sparkle and a matching canister throne and Dynasonic snare. I was not a big fan of the Rogers drums even though they sounded good but I was living in an apartment at the time and space was not at a premium so I had to find one or two kits to go. Never regreted selling it until he passed away earlier this year. Sold it to a guy in Green Bay Wisconsin. If this rings any bells to anyone out there let me know, would love to see the kit again.
