What do i do with these?!? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Anyone have any ideas for what to do with these? There's a 10X28" Ludwig bass drum (dated 10-22-62).

Then, there are these 12, 14, 16" toms. Has anyone ever made a kit out of these?

Am I better off, in both cases, stripping these drums and selling or re-using the parts? I'd like to think the BD could be cut and repurposed for a snare and/or tom. I'd hate to waste nice vintage wood crying2-07 , and there doesn't seem to be much of a market for marching drums.

I am anxious to hear your ideas! Thanks!!!

Ludwig bass drum with the long Imperial lugs.

Actually, this has the 2-1/2" Classic lugs.

Bass drum: Make it into a woofer. They are sweet in the studio.

Toms: I dont know! Maybe you could cut em down for snare drum shells?

Adam, I thought the same thing, at least regarding the 12 and 14. Not too sure about the 16, though.

I've seen drums converted to lamp shades. That actually crossed my mind, as well. Repurposing them as stage lights could be cool, too. I think I would prefer them being played, somehow. Maybe if they had lights mounted in them, with triggers, so they flashed when they were struck. Ah, but that's just more to pack into gigs. Help2

Turn it into a tympany bass drum! Just add back the batter head, create a wood frame to hold it low on the floor at an angle (ala steel drum frame) and put it off to the side of your kit so you can play it with mallets for booming bass drum lines/rhythms. Rewrap it to match your kit.

A 16" with a round frosted glass top and a light inside would make a cool side table in a music room.

Too many great drums to list here!

Too funny, VM2000. It was a good guess, though! I already stripped this one to clean it. Thought I might be able to salvage the wrap. The same wrap came off a 12X15 snare pretty cleanly.

John, the 16" side table isn't a bad idea.
