A key factor the seller tries to connect to is the catalog version of the set in red sparkle. That color with all the gear is likely to have drawn a buyer already - maybe not at $4k, but not too, too far below. The other factor pointed out above is that you have to pick it up in central Texas. Nobody is going to spend the additional $400 to $500 (maybe more given the amount of insurance required) to have it all shipped. And, you'd have to box the boxes to do that. That limits the range of buyers a lot. I'm with the notion of $2.5k because of what you'd have to go through to get to it, or get it to you. Then again, maybe after another year, that right person will see the Craigslist advert and drive over, a town or two, and take it.
What is a good price for this vintage Rogers set?? Last viewed: 55 minutes ago
Add the matching wood Dyna and it's 4K.
I have come to the conclusion that sometimes people put up CL ads like this with their "It's not really for sale, but if someone gave me X$ for it I'd have to take it" price. It doesn't cost anything, it gives them a chance to show off their collection, and it can keep a nagging spouse at bay for a time.
For the record...I have not (yet) done this, and my spouse is not (currently) a nag.

The old "make me an offer I can't refuse" strategy, eh?Excited
If that kit had all the boxes, original sales receipts and was essentially new old stock I would say he could get 4000.00 for it.
I would guess that most of us on here are player/collectors or have that mindset, with a small percentage being serious hardcore high dollar collector types.I think the kit is worth a bit more because of the extras, and because it is a cataloged kit that matches the suggested and pictured configuration in the catalogue.I think it is a collectors grade kit esp with the cymbals, those make it more unique IMO,and I think it would be a great example and look great set up in a music room/man cave or collection area.I guess it depends on what you think the cymbals and extras add to the value.
I think 2500.00 ish is more realistic,3000.00 for someone who just has to have it.
I`ve never seen a Rogers kit this complete as a package and that`s why the seller is asking the 4K.Very hard to find indeed... and it should appreciate in the years to come.I agree with the 2.5-3K range and look at it as an art investment over time...
