Ok Guy's,What would you offer for this set..To make a long story short a friend called me today and can across a set of --Drum roll please---- A Gretsch Gladstone Set..This is what he told me about it he thinks the sizes are a 22" bass, tom's are 13" and 16" with a matching 6x14 snare--ia'm thinking a 6 1/2x14--set has all of the cymbals,stands.ete...he said set is green..I have No photo's of the set but he did see it he said that all the drums said Gladstone= gretsch to me.....So what would you guy's offer on this set?? I know these set's are very rare if just don't what to blow it by offering a low offer to the owner. My friend also told me that the kid don't know what to ask for it ,it's been at his Dad's house pack away for years and he what's to sell it because they have to clean out the house from his Dad's estate...Mikey

Man, i'd draw out as much cash as I had – go over there and ask the kid what he wants for them. Most people will say they have no idea and make an offer but he will have a price in his mind so you need to extract that from him. Good luck man – deals like that are something I can only dream about. Keep on Pl

Well i talked to the kid on the phone today for over an hour..I ask some questions about the color i said in the green sparkle or a paint..He said it's like a paint with no sparkle's in it..So ia'm thinking the green is cadillac green finish..i also asked about the size's of the drums he checked them why i was on the phone small drum he said is 13 1/2 x10 1/2",,the one on the floor is 17 1/2x 17 1/2",,big drum is 23 1/2"x 16 1/2"..The one with the wire's on the bottom is 6 1/2x 14x1/2' so this tell's me the drums are 14x22,9x13,16x16,6x14.. Cymbal's are 14",16'',20'' i did not as name of cymbals. I want to play this cool with him..I also asked about the chrome parts on the drums he said they look good.So i ask him what kind of price he had in mine--he said he was thinking 3,000.00 for the complete set..i said okDOH..One last thing i asked is that if he could email me some photo's of the drum's before i make the drive--[[i did not tell him that the drive is going to be about 700 miles each way]]..he said he will email me some photo's of the drum's but it would be on friday or this week end.i said ok that's cool with me.I don't want to jump the gun and press him for photo's i got to play cool till i have the set...So i do have a question about Gretsch Gladstone set's does anyone know how many were made?? I seem to recall only 50 snare's were made but that number could be wrong also....Mikey

What I was reading earlier is that 50 snares were made, but only about half of them can be accounted for.

Good luck on that. Hope you find it to be what you wanted, and get a fair price.

There is a difference between Gretsch Gladstone era and Gladstone snares, guys. Billy worked at Gretsch and those kits were named for him, or something like that. His snares, that he personally built for others were at his own shop, not from the Gretsch floor, so a Gretsch Gladstone kit, could be his, or a kit built during his tenure at the gretsch factory, or a kit named for him. In any event, that sounds like a nice prize...ansd where do you get off....finding all these deals....Good On Ya!
