What style of music are you playing with your vintage kit? Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

I have dabbled in vintage drums over the years, but am currently playing a mid priced new kit with my original folk rock band. I did however just purchase a 70's Slingerland kit (20,12,16) that should be landing any day. I want to make the switch to vintage as I love the warmth of the shells, playing a piece of history, etc., but am concerned that the kit will not cut it with my band, especially the 14x20 kick (I currently use an 18x20). It got me thinking about what styles of music the majority of folks on this forum play.

Do most of you play jazz, classic rock, etc or do a lot of you play contemporary styles as well? Also, how many folks are in cover bands/GB bands vs. original.

Just curious. Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I like to play 60s -80s anything rock. I record my own music.

I prefer 22" bass drums live. I have a 20/12/14 set that I use depending on what I am recording. Consider that someone like John Densmore of the Doors only used 12/14/20 and look what he accomplished sonically.

I wouldn't necessarily sweat the size of your bass but all that really matters is that you are happy with it, not me.
