What the heck is this snare drum!? Last viewed: 3 minutes ago

This is a "made in England" Rogers from the 1960's. They had B&B lugs that broke, the extra lug is an Edgware made by Boosey and Hawkes and the slotted bolts are a giveaway too - all English drums (Premier, Ajax, John Grey, Carlton) used slotted bolts so you only needed a coin to tighten them. Very good reference site here http://rogerkelly.weebly.com/

I have an English Rogers badge which someone sent me and it was not packed correctly so it is broken in two spots.

Let me know if you are interested in it.

I'm not sure which style it is, I have to get it out and take a look.

Wow :D Thanks a lot guys :D I think this drum would have stayed unknown without you ^_^ About that badge, that would be cool, it would be nice to restore the drum to how it's meant to be ^_^ Now for the biggest question of all I think, what's this rusty rogers worth these days? @_@

Roger Kelly's site is undoubtedly very useful, but there are a few inaccuracies there when it comes to English Rogers. For instance although the catalogues say that the shells were made that way, very few of them actually were, and the photos of the Mardi Gras drums, which have been taken from the English catalogue, are actually of American drums, so not that useful to a collector today.

In the UK a good one of those would go for about £100-£125. With a replaced damper and lug then it would be less. The lugs by the way are different to the US ones. The only parts on that drum that were made in the US are the throw and the butt.

You would normally expect an English Rogers drum to have square head rods just like a USA Rogers but a little rougher in the machining.

Oh cool :D I think that what I will do is find orginal bits to put back on it and give it a clean, maybe replace the heads too? :D When I got this it was with the rest of the drumkit. I'm not sure if the rest of it is rogers, some of the bits on it I think are Trixon, should I post pictures of the rest of the kit too?

it looks like they sat brother ray and stevie at a table and instead

of an erector set or lincoln logs they gave them a drum shell and

some parts and asked them to collaborate on the making of this

drum. those hoops look like mij and that one lug looks like 60's

mij too. thing i had a snare drum back in the 60's with that lug

pattern but no badge.

From blkonyx

These lugs usually crack over time..most likely why the one lug was replaced. The inside and muffler look to correct as well. I'll be honest, your chances of finding the correct badge for that drum is slim to none...Regardless, very cool drum!!!

I did see someone selling the correct badging for this drum nearby...

a cpl mths back...i think $15 was his asking..

if yr interseted..let me know..

It would be the english (smaller version)..
