Wayne - I like you buddy, but I don't get it. Didn't you run a search on his name here at VDF -before- sending him your money? If you had just used the Search feature and entered, Mikey777, you'd know that every 8 or 12 weeks, like clockwork, somebody else starts a 'where's my stuff' thread on Mikey. Mikey eventually responds, a little time will go by and, Viola! another, 'where's my stuff' thread!
It's like a bad Twilight Zone episode, or, Groundhog Day... same s**t, different day!
Simplest solution everybody: Stop sending him your money!
No mas problema...
John
Purdy, let me explain....
I am kinda new to the forum but i have sold and purchased on here without a hitch. i admit i did not do a search of
Mikey777 before i sent him money, may i remind you all that:
I placed and add looking for vistalite concert toms
He answered the add and then emailed me very quickly I might add....
We struck a deal, i paid
Now no communication whatsoever....
I do not see why i should not be able to trust someone with vintage drum guru under their heading..presumanly a title given by the admin of this wonderful site!??!
On th very top of the for sale listings is a sticky called know who you are dealing with, it also has a link to a listing from sellers stating what they sell etc...
I searched there for mikey and this is what i found:
MIKEY777
Vintage Drum Guru

Re: Before you buy on VDF - Read This
This is great..#1--What i sell==vintage drum parts,shells[center][/CENTER#2--how fast you ship===with in a few days#3--the types of payment--paypal is the best but m.o. will work for me#4.your ebay I.D.--ahldrums77 [i also give that to members before we do deals with photos]#5 a web site URL--don't have one....Mikey
Now, why on earth would the admin allow this to remain when we all know that he is very slow to ship and there are threeads dedicated to the drama created by his very poor methods of sellng?
It is easy to lay blame on me by not finding a thread where he has not shipped parts to people and in other words ripped them off! It IS there, i just did not find it beforehand.
But I have to ask why the admin and other senior members alow this to happen
Cant we have another link to sellers who can NOT be trusted and that would not be adviseable to do business with?
That would have certainly helped me in my present situation.
Just saying!

There are far more good transactions with Mikey than bad. I'm sure just all the bad ones get far more mileage as there are those who love to slow down to see an accident. No one to blame but yourself and Mikey, not admin. or other members. You could of easily asked someone here about their opinion on Mikey or started a thread.
If you're not using eBay and doing a transaction between "friends", you have no recourse. I have shipped to members here and have treated them as an eBay transaction, but there is still some eBayers that have bought from me that think they deserve to be treated like royalty.
Caveot Emptor.
Well actualy, i do have a recourse... I paid with paypal so they will refund me my money.. And I used some posts on here as proof that I am not the only one who has been taken for a ride.. I notice that in your response you never bothered to address one of the questions i asked? Thanks for your input
I hate to sound unsympathetic man, and I do know how you feel I've been in your shoes. Not with mikey77 but in other transactions including with a guy I know and made a face to face deal with. Your money is out there and you are feeling like you've been screwed and that's a lot of money and not a good feeling.
This whole "online/internet" commerce thing is built on trust. And honest people are far more likely to trust people and give the benefit of the doubt. Because we would never screw someone over. And hearing that the guy is a nice guy, as long as he's holding your money is not very reassuring.
But with all that said, it's really on you to do everything you can to check someone out and know that you're always taking a giant risk. A huge gamble. In your case a $180.00 gamble.
I personally like the titles, it encouraged me to get back on and post more often, but it didn't take long to realize that a "vintage drum guru" could have just as much bs as a "member" on this forum and I am sure anywhere.
I also get that you say the sticky is misleading - it is!
But the way I see it is you basically have 2 choices:
1 - as aggravating as it is, wait a little while longer - because I think this guy eventually gets it in gear and delivers - eventually being the operative word.
2 - I think you already did this - open case, complaint, cancel, w/e with paypal.
It all depends on how much you want the stuff you supposedly bought. I can't even remember what it is any more.
Ok I'm sick to death of this topic. I want to learn stuff about vintage drums!!
So excuse me for the "hit and run" but I'm out!!
Good Luck
and
God Bless the Drumin' USA
Wayne,
I agree with the above posts. I understand your frustration but what I can say is the administrators run this site as a labour of love and to put that kind of responsibility on them is asking too much. I am quite sure they have day jobs (and in this business night jobs) and really do not have time to oversee sales. Their only recourse is to ban commerce on this site and I doubt anyone wants that. Good luck on your dealings. my assumption is that Mikey will come through. I suppose you never know though.
For what its worth I say stick to your guns and stay with the paypal dispute. Soon you will have your money back and you can go on ebay and get what you want without the hassle.
Good luck!
These "Mikey" threads have just gotten sooo old. Bro, if you're the giving, awesome guy you intimate you are, then why so much negative feedback? How can you expect to grow a business when you don't deliver the goods?
$hit!! Make this a sticky, already. Tired of this topic wasting bandwidth. And here I am, adding to it.
NEXT!!
B
Nothing against Mikey, the person. Just the business.
"Grow a business"? Are you kidding me? Mikey777 has a 10,000 sq/ft house. You know who else has a 10k sq/ft house? Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, and Elvis. Did any of you guys realize there was SO MUCH MONEY to be made from selling vintage drum parts?
Hi Phil, remember me?? I was curious, where can I find some of your many stories that you reported on in when you worked for, I'm sorry I didn't get the name of that paper in Orange County, you remember the one you retired from. Funny, I don't see anyone with your name having any type of articles on the web, so I'm assuming your screen name is a pseudonym. I'd very much like to read about your many tales told as a reporter, I'm sure I'd enjoy them immensely......
backbeatkeeper, I'm sure you would enjoy them immensely. And, good catch on the nom de plume. Now, can you figure out what it means? And if you're really curious about what paper I worked for in Orange County, do a search, there's only one big one. Then read every story back to, oh say, 1980. The one's you enjoy immensely would, of course, be mine.
