I'm curious to know if you ordered the set with two single tom arms rather than a double tom mount. If so, what was your reason for doing so?
Dan,i was a 17 yr.old kid at this point in time and didn`t really know much if anything about tom configurations and mounts, etc. All i knew for sure was that i really wanted a set of Rogers drums and in this finish. As far as i can remember(and that was a very long time ago),this was the way the set came and wasn`t custom ordered this way.I do remember these tom arms were $14.00(Canadian) a piece and at that time and a fair chunk of change in 1967.Must have had three of them as i traded one in on a Rogers dbl tom floor stand and i still have two tom arms left.Likely the third arm came with the second bd i ordered.

In 1967, I was 15, I would have been shocked out of my whits if my Dad had showed up with a set like that. I'm guessing the cost would have been somewhere very close to $1000 based on a set I purchased in NJ a couple of years ago from the original owner whose father had paid about $550 for a Buddy Rich Celebrity (4-piece) in blue onyx with a COB dynasonic, both base mounted cymbal 'L' arms, pedal, hat and one extra swan stand along with hard cases. That was severely discounted at the Sam Ash store on Long Island, NY (40% discount). I still have the original sales receipt, but don't have the 3 blue onyx drums any longer. They belong now to a guy in CA.
Conversely in 1967, I got an MIJ set that was $250 with cymbals after working to build a summer camp in NH the entire break from school that year. It absorbed all my earnings.
The nifty thing about your base drums is that either can be played left-handed, which would be a great training exercise for opposite handed facility!
Wow Wayne ! In 1967 that had to be a monster kit. Two mounted toms and two floor toms. Unheard of. It is amazing you had the where with all to hang on to them all these years, instead of trading or selling for something which others may have thought cooler or more with the times as far as wrap color, etc. Absolutely beautiful set. Were those two 16"x16" floors. I see on your signature the two 13"s and 20" kick drum. Do you still have both floor toms?
Wayne very cool picture of your Dad and the Rogers that day!! Classic. Yes indeed these drums were expensive back in the day. My old Rogers kit was $300 used (with stands, cymbals and cases) and that was a good chunk of change back then. Really nice you have not only kept them but added to them all these years! Beautiful.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

I foolishly never took a picture of my first profesional drum set when I first picked it up from the music store that ordered it to the specs that I supplied. There are a few not-so-good pictures of me playing them on stage after I had owned them for a few years. That 1961 Rogers set in Black Diamond Pearl was stunningly beautiful in appearance and sound. Under the right circumstances, I would want a duplicate of that drum set if I could find one in nice condition. The drums were all Holiday series---including the matching BDP snare drum. I ordered a 14x20 bass drum, 8x12 mounted tom, 16x16 floor tom, and 5x14 snare drum. The 12" tom, the snare drum, and the ride cymbal to the drummer's right all were mounted on the bass drum with Swivomatic hardware. I ordered the drums with a solid footboard Swivomatic bass drum pedal, A Zildjian 15" hi-hat cymbals, and A Zildjian 20" ride cymbal.
