Which Rogers' Finish are Most Prized Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Looking at adding a vintage Rogers kit to the collection and while I like the blue onyx, I also understand that the black onyx is more prized. Can someone enlighten me on order of rarity of the rogers' finish. figure if I only have room for one rogers kit it may as well be a prized one like a Ludwig BOP.

Thanks in advance..

Buy what you like. Personally, I don't like the black onyx. I like the red onyx, so that's what I picked up. If you want the finish that brings in better resell, that would be gold glass or one of the wild rare finishes. If you buy a kit just because the finish is rare, but end up not liking the finish ... what's the point? Honest Rogers Swivo-60's drums will pretty much hold their value. You really can't go wrong with just picking up what feels good to you.

Thanks mcjnic. problem is I like them (black and blue) almost equally, and of course, the black is priced higher. the kits I'm looking at has the tom mount off to the side for the black but centred over th BD for the blue. Is this normal or less valued?

The most prized Rogers color....... has never been found.

Just interject your fav. color for green sparkle.

Green Sparkle, 14x18, 8x12, 14x14, with matching Dynasonic in 5 or 6.5 sizes, Cleveland tags, under 45000 numbers, three ply, stored in cases since they arrived. Absolutely factory perfect, no pitting, no marks. Including all hardware, and K stamp cymbals.

Here are my 12 and 16 Wildwoods with flat grey interiors. My question would be...what is rare? Low production numbers? Offered only a short time? Low numbers available today? Prototypes? Custom finishes? Finding your first kit? I always wanted one like this? It's a harder question than it seems at first.

BTW on the Ludwig side I would rather have a natural maple Bonham sized late 60's kit.

I used to own Roy Burn's prototype...sold it and all of my wood Dynas/Powertones to save up for a 1920s L&L gold Triumphal Model.

There are collectors and then there is Curotto..Bowing

I need to get your book Mike!!

The picture of Wildwood in the The Rogers Book looks really beautiful... but neither of the two photos I have seen of real drums seem to come close to the amount of color in the sample photo.
