Another Ludwig guy here, for the aforesaid reason--had some way back in the '60's.
But.....those WMP Slingerlands are fantastic!!........marko
I would have to say my Ludwigs over all, but love my Chanute Camco's. Also have a mid 70's resonator Premier set, and it sounds as good as anything I own. My first Luwig 1971 set was burned in a club fire. It was a amazing sounding set.
That is one creepy picture!
If someone put me blindfolded in a studio with all these drums tuned similarly, with identical heads i wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I could tell a metal snare from a wood one, but that's about it. I'd be happy to play any of these drums!
A bit late on this...and not on the list. Camco.
Ludwig 3 ply natural maple "Bonham" sizes for me, please....
Mid 60's 3-ply Ludwig Super Classic config. Love the deep full tones. Adding to them now.
Taking EVERYTHING into account from all 4 makers... sound, shells, hardware, etc... I have to vote Rogers! Yes, they are the heaviest to haul around, but... there is no denying that the hardware and fantastic Swivomatic tom holders have stood the test of time and will last. Don't get me wrong, I love my Ludwig and Slingerland kits, but Rogers, IMHO, has the best hardware!
Rogers, 20-12-14 with a wood powertone. Sweetness!
