Poll time people. Further to RimsNSkins indicating a 60% split between players and non players who just collect and tinker.
Just press an option and we'll all get to see.
ps sorry for the typo "he house" I meant the house.

This is a great Poll...
You know that every weekend warrior is gonna do this poll...
It would be Very useful if Everybody gave their input..!
We should almost have 4 to pick from..
Pro..(gig 8x mthly)
Semi pro.. (Gig 4x mthly) I.e. Weekend warrior..
Play only at home.
Collector..
Haha only non-player so far. After 4 finger surgeries in the last year I've done a lot less playing out. The way I look at it my best days are ahead of me once I heal up.

These days I'm more of a tinkerer, collector, enthusiast, buyer & seller type, but I'm a player above all. Are there even guys out there that collect, but don't actually know how to play the drums?
Ya, supposedly only one enthusiast so far. I don't think that will go much higher, I'll bet most of these guys think if they tap around on a kit at home, they are a player.
Used to play often...but that was over 15 years ago! I'm very happy now just collecting and admiring my drums...which is also why it's time to let some kits go!

I consider myself a player. Even though I haven't played in a band since 2003. I practice twice a week on a kit and the rest on a pad.
I was a player long before I got into vintage drums.
Hats off to the valued resident collectors here. From stamps to old farm tools, most everything you can think of is collected....vintage drums and sets being the coolest things on Earth, doesn't surprise me they'd be collected too. :)
You're preserving these treasures for the next generation. As collections slowly get broken up and sold to both players and other collectors, eventually most kits will end up being played no worries. Collectors stretch the lifespan of these kits well beyond if they were all in use right now - not everyone takes great care of their equipment.
So Cheers to the collectors, and though I'm not the one to say it, don't let anyone ever make you feel unwelcome or "less than" on this awesome forum.

Sorry i haven`t added my vote to this poll. I`m a professional drummer and i have been for 45 yrs. A professional drummer is one who makes his living with the drums and not really how often they play per mos. so i felt the poll seemed somewhat unfair to me.I`ve played more in my younger days than i do now but i still play for a living four times a mos.So in the poll standards,i guess that would make me a semi-pro...Anyone else here have some thoughts on what`s considered a full time professional?
Best,
Wayne
Perhaps the poll should have been split into more categories. Like Wayne is a total pro and others are weekend warriors.I think if you have played for several years and can play with any musician or band then you are a professional drummer. Your not a pro at anything just because you got paid, I have seen carpenter work by guys who call them professional but the work is horrible. So to me, if you really know your craft and your making money then you are a pro whether it be full time drumming or weekend warrior. I voted enthusiast because I am learning, working very hard to become a weekend warrior because you guys make it sound so fun!
