It is a post Rogers era Grossman Music offered item. Post April 1966 he couldn't sell/offer the black Rogers ones any more. Shown in his 70s counter catalogs al the way up to the 1986 year book.

I've never seen one of these in metal and I do quite a bit of searching around for Rogers parts. Thats why I assumed it was a knockoff.
Has anyone come across one, or do any of you own the metal version?
