Thank God Bernard Purdie was able to "save" all those early Beatles tracks!Laughing H

I've never read which tracks he claims to have fixed. Anyone?

Probably that horrible Live at the Star Club in Hamburg from 1961. Ugh. Horrible recording should have never made it to vinyl.

Also, hate to bring up Dennis Wilson, but when did he get replaced on Beach Boys recordings? 1965-ish?

It's important to get good drum tracks on a recording. If the drums aren't right then everything else sounds bad. That's our job as drummers - to make the other musicians sound good. I think if the drummer isn't serving the music on the recording he'll be given a good shoe in the pants and told to leave and then somebody like myself or John Purdie Shuffle will come in and get those tracks down perfectly in one take. :D

Well, that depends on who you talk to,as the stories have changed over the years. He said at one time Ringo didn't play on ANY of it.If you have a decent ear for drummers, you can hear Ringo distingtive style on all but a few recordings the Paul Played drums on,like "The Ballad of John and Yoko".

These ,as far as Ringo's studio playing is concerned, are pure B.S.Just listen to the live recordings, which swing just like the studio ones. You may be able to possibly duplicate another drummers part, but you can't play it with the same swing and feel that Ringo does.Ringo was also a human metronome, and when they overdubed,Ringo's time was near perfect.

I'm pretty sure that's Hal Blaine on "Good Vibrations",there's even film footage in the studio, and control room, studio dialog with Brian Wilson and Hal on that tune.Studio log books verify this also. There's also some signed contracts on the web, of members of the Wrecking crew ,being contracted to play on other bands studio albums, besides the Beach Boys. You may be surprised that Hal Blaine is 10 of you're favorite drummers.

Just don't mention this to member Kookadams.:)

orangemi - I don't know what Bernard claims, or not, below is factual history. Take the time to read through the list.
