And a few that I have sold.
Wood Stained Drums Last viewed: 39 seconds ago
Rogers only made two stained wood finish options during the Clev and Dayton eras, mahogany and Wildwood (Dayton).
The two Mahogany finishes are Clev era 6.5x14 Tower and 6.5x14 Luxor. The other is a Dayton Wildwood.
Don't know if this counts as vintage as the rest of the drums posted on this thread,
but it's definitely a wood finish, and i love it ! Here's my vintage early 80's Yamaha Tour series kit.. Birch/Mahogany shells.
I think Gretsch had some of the best looking wood finishes back then. Smooth as glass with a miles deep look to them. They were a bit more money than the Slingerland I do remember. But man they sure were nice.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Professionally refinished Slingerlands.

Here are a few. My favorite finish.
The maple Slingerlands still have a ways to go before they get clear laquer. Can't find a later photo of the Gretsch marcher restore. None of these are stained. The mahogany drums are original finish just cleaned up and some wax.

Ludwig wrapped in oak. 3 ply Slingerlands. Gretsch RB 3 ply snare. Yamaha Hipgigs stripped and stained. Ludwig Classic Birch natural finish...... Yes, I like wood grain drums!
Here are a few, some I just got and need to show them some love to get them back into shape. Some need some more love than others. I will be reaching out and asking for some advice on the 1940's WFL Eagle marchers as I know I will need to combine them into 1 drum and will need input on staining or not staining the scratches.
