There everywhere ive seen nice vintage Gretsch RB kits and other vintage kits drilled for those hidious pearl mounts OUCH!

and what about those people who take a perfectly playable vintage drum set or snare drums to scavenge them for parts leaving nothing left behind but a picked clean carcass some even remove the badges that sickening!

I have a Standard 22" kick that someone decided to to put a modern Pearl style tom mount on...

I have seen standard snares with OCPD size vents in them also... damn kids.DOH

my 64/5 22" ringo kick is weird! So, it was used at a high school for 30 years and in it's history it had the original fold out spurs swapped for the less effective club date style, then modern 4 hole type in the early 90's. Then the moved the consolette more towards the top of the drum, but didn't bother to at least re use 2 of the holes. The also drilled the rack for some type of mount that doesn't related to the consolette at all. amazingly, NO big holes for pearl style mounts were drilled! I can't believe it survived as well as it did...

all that being said, it sounds amazing!

Ugh!!! The giant air vents, and the stupid star-shaped vents. I'm a young-ish dude, but I can't STAND the 'scenester' kits. I liken them to little street tuner cars w/ the offset stripes. I go for classic as much as possible. I wish I could have kept some of my drums original, but at least I kept them classy :)

Here comes another rant, I am an old NOT SO MODERN DRUMMER GUY, and we don't use the term orphan, we call them singles, and to have a perfectly good wrapped drum and rewrap it because it doesn't match the drums you have is no BETTER than someone ripping down a drum for parts, someone somwhere is looking for that single that you have, trade it, sell it, but do not rewrap it!!!! oh i don't like this wmp because it's yellowed, PLEASE!!!! sure there is a time when there is no other solution but to take a perfectly good wrap and rewrap it, MAN THAT CRANKS MY MONKEY!Bump You don't own these vintage drums you are only the care taker of them!!! oh I know I'll here from a certain group about this, BUT you'll have confused me with someone who gives a RATS A@#!!:Soap Box

I am taking the wrap off the aforementioned standard kick (w/ the Pearl mount holes) and wrapping some smaller toms (that were bare when I bought them) to add to my standard kit..... Na-na-na-na-na--na. Does this count?

I'm kinda half/half on the rewrap. I keep everything original that I can, but my silver sparkle luds had been ravaged for the sake of being able to use swiv-o-matic mounts, as well as other abuse, and now they're my pretty turq. sparkles, patched up, etc. They're in a loving home and ready to rock/groove!

My Ayottes are all original as are my battle-worn 79ish classics. The partial Blue Oyster Pearl is original and purty. The only mods were the turq. rewrap and the slingerland strip-stain. I love my big drum family and snare kids :) haha

NO to both of you!!! That makes perfect sense,as I stated to take good wrap, and strip it to match a kit you have NOT COOL!, if the wrap is fried of course re wrap it But not good wrap on a single that you have, trade it. sell it, someone out there is looking for that drum!!Clapping Happy2
