The black chrome is called gunmetal finish. Ludwig used a lacquer tinted with Pyrite or something and called it Delux and used Gold plating, yours looks to be the gold plate to me.

Just a point of information. That isn't a black chrome finish,it's black nickel, with a clear lacquer coating over it..It's also very thin, and fairly fragile.

Only the trim would be Gold plated, the shell has Copper under the black Chrome so the Chrome will adhere better. That`s what use see through the engraving. Did you try the bulb in a lamp ?

Just a point of information. The Shell is a two piece brass shell, not copper. The finish is also black nickel, not chrome.Chrome was an option, but white chrome(chromeioum) only.

I caught up that info in post #35, kept looking at it and remembered.

I should loose interest in vintage drums,....these things just fall into unknowing hands. It`s almost like the BB`s are avoiding people interested.

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

uztommyt, I had a Fender amp. before I fried it, and it had a plug like that. The cap on it was just a thick piece of paper. Don`t be afraid to see if the juice works.
