That`s OK,..The 220 Aluminum oxide paper will clean it all down to the Aluminum, without takeing much material off and will leave a good brush look to it that will add contrast to the rest of the drum you did so well on so far !! But only if it`s Aluminum !! The paper will quickly turn to 300 to 400 grit in no time !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

lol I got it man :)

I finally found that Nail Polish remover will take this sticky crap off the chrome!

Now Im down to 2 hours a drum for restoration.

No need to use sand paper on the aluminum, a wet 0000 scotch brite pad cleans it right up.

For anyone else cleaning one of these kits up a word of warning.

The chrome on the wrap is VERY soft and scratches really easy unlike the hard as nails chrome used on the hardware.

Of note also is that the 10" tom only has a re-ring on the batter side and a very square blunt edge on the reso. The batter side bearing edge is basically square which explains the rather lackluster tone from this drum.

So far 10,12,13 are cleaned up. 14,15,16,18, 22 to go!

i was able to finish up the 13,14 and most of the bass drum. I still need to re-attach the chrome inlay on the batter head hoop.

Wow is this kit gorgeous! Pics to come AND I'm buying a COB Krupa snare to go with it.
