I went with single ply Remo Ambassadors on all the toms.

I used an Original Slingerland head on the bass reso side and an Evans EQ4 batter.

Very nice man enjoy em!

I got the same Evans EQ4 bass batter head and it sounds killer!!! I love that deep thud, it just makes me happy. :D I'm sure you'll be rippin these up in no time. Way back when I got my big Slingy kit it took a while to get used to it coming from your basic 2up 1 down kit. I adjusted quickly though. D' Drummer

yeah, its fun but I feel so much more at home with my 1 up 1 down set up.

finally got the BD to sound the way I want it! All it took was a thin bed sheet folded up in the bottom of the shell.

Any interest in trades out there? This kit is just too damn big for me to feel comfy at.

I know someone (no not me) who might be interested if you don't find any interesting trades. I doubt he has anything worth trading but last we spoke he said he's looking for a BIG vintage kit.

Those look great!!! I would be afraid to touch them because it would drive me nuts to have a fingerprint on them. I would probably wear cotton gloves anytime I handled or adjusted them. Wonderful job!!!

The great thing is after a coat of wax, a quick swipe with your shirt tail removes any finger/palm prints :)

FFR428, shipping would be really expensive but feel free to let him know about the drums. I'd keep the snare and cymbals, but the rest of the kit and cases for the drums could find a new home for the right price.

I think he'd do a road trip if he's interested. I do hope you decide to keep them you really put alot into them!! But if you do decide to let them go send me a PM with a price you have in mind. I'll let him know and get you his contact info. You both can take it from there. He'd be fine with just drums and cases, he has a newer Ludwig kit and a nice new set of Sabians he recently bought. If those were mine they would be real hard to let go of though. Kits like that are hard to come by.
