Just to get off topic for a moment, I just watched the Ludwig video from BEC's collection and my lung nearly collapsed from the huge, long, airless gasp i took.. Absolutely phenomenal collection !!..My favorite kits in his collection are the 2-band black diamond/white marine pearl kit, the pink oyster (60's) the red diamond Pearl. Just superb !

Funny you mention that, as I decided to watch that DVD again yesterday.

Love that DVD extra of the tour.......Cool1

Which leads me to the question, Bun E., do you have any Black Panther finish Ludwig's in your collection? ;)

The guy in the stage band in high school had the Rock Duo set in mod orange. It was awesome.

There's a picture of the set in the year book, but it's in black and white.

That makes me feel ancient.

1971 Ludwig Rock Duo set in Blue Oyster Pearl
early Mapex dual bass drum Saturn kit
1964 Leedy Ray  Mosca kit in Blue Sparkle
1959 Slingerland Super Gene Krupa snare in WMP
1968 Slingerland Hollywood Ace Snare Drum
1969 and 1977 Ludwig 400 Supraphonic snares
1965 Acrolite snare
Ludwig Coliseum snare
'68 Rogers Dynasonic snare
Pearl free floating piccolo snare
13" Mapex piccolo snare
6.5" deep Mapex steel snare
Mapex 6.5" Brass snare
I know there's more snares than that.
UFIP cymbals / Avedis Zildjians
Ghost pedals or Tama King Beats

I had some panther. 24" virgin bass, 13 and 14 toms with a 16" floor tom. I sold them to Uli, the Ludwig artists rep, a couple weeks back.

The other 24" bass drum and 18" floor tom with the set has citrus mod underneath the panther. Jack Lawton is "peeling the panther" for me currently.

It's back up today for $5799. I bet this guy's Wife is threatening to kill him because he convinced her that when he spent $4K for it on eBay he was going to flip it and make a killing. Weeks ago he had it listed for $12,999 :p

In the year 25 25 if man is still alive , what ludwigs can survive

April 2nd 1969 scarfed pink champagne holly wood and 65/66 downbeat snare, and , supra same year very minty kit old pies
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

We'd love to see some pics of those "peeled panthers" when you get them back. :D

Only came down $200 this time. What price do you all think it would take for someone to hit the "BIN" button?

Honestly when I was seriously thinking about it I was planning to give up around $3000.00. Even then that is a lot of money but the public opinion won out as the set sold for $4000.00. I'm guessing the public has decided not to go much more than $4000.00 though as this has been listed several times now.

As much as I want one, I don't have $4000.00 to spend. My wife thinks I'm nuts already because I have a 69,22,13,16 with added 1968 14x14 as well as a 1971 clubdate. Still the downbeat is something I have lusted after since the late 80's.
