ok fine heres my take retail value downbeat snare on good day 575 on bad day 375

downbeat drums 3 piece on a good day 1200 on a bad day 750

the cymbals as a whole 350 to 500 the hardware another 125 to 250 tops good luck im sure every one here is over whelming you with offers take your time if you do sell consider selling the shipping its a pain the drums not so bad the cymbals and hardware very pricy because of weight you mite be better offering local pick up, im truly sorry about your loss but if you do sell and feel sentimental about them any one here im sure will give them a good home and we here at the vdf at least most of us respect the heritage of old drums as most of us are as old or older than them and we grew up playing them thats why we covet them here and respect them but you also have to understand it takes a lot to restore theses timeless classics with a lots of time/labor and money so again to restore this kit to get the big bucks sometimes it is so much work it can take months and hundreds of $ so take all of what i say with a grain of salt hope this helps God bless ....

Jahog's value of $ 1,600 (very low end) to $2,500 (high end) is a good range. I would also add that there is a premium for having Champagne Sparkle wrap and the fact that all of the drums are matching (originally purchased together). That's good for you, because this will get you closer to the higher end, if you decide to sell.

Like was mentioned earlier, set them up in the corner somewhere and give them a go. You've played before. See what you remember. :)

Did you ever play them when you were young?

on a high note he is right but they have to b perfect and if you watch ebay they do sit there was a downbeat snare that i sold a while back for 565 and i had to list it 4 x so yes you could but set your own price and fish around but im realistic and those price i gave u are accurate in this economy while others can dream of big bucks they sit on them forever and re list and re list im not saying that's what you'll get for them thats just fair market value in theses time ill bet here with all the talk to get 1600 for the 3 drums alone will b like pulling hens teeth

but thorn is not reading what im saying i breaking them down as a hole im in the same ball park read the comment before you make one

Jahog - I agree with you 100% and I did read your comment before I posted.

The value range I listed was just a total of "your" individual prices, both low and high, for everything if sold as a complete set. I was also stating that even in today's depressed vintage drum market, Champagne Sparkle wrap and matched kits should still increase the value over a Blue Sparkle wrap and un-matched or incomplete kit.

Just got a phone call from my uncle and he informed he has pictures of band members from Paul Revere and the Raiders next to my Dad and the drum set. This just keep getting more interesting. Larry Hallbert (spelling??). I know the lead drummers name was Larry "Legs" Smith but for some reason my uncle insist there was a Larry Hallbert, also a Archie Huddleston (sp??). He is suposed to be looking for pictures to send me. Also a High school teacher that is currentling teaching in Brookings Oregon was part of the band (Paul Revere's). Im researching.

OK guys. I still have not recieved any pics of my Dad with the drums sets. My mother insist that she gave me some just a few years back but I looked and they are not there. My uncle as well has yet to come up with anything. Besides that I just got back my electronic borescope from Snap-On so I will look inside tonight. After talking to my mother and my uncle about selling the drums I think I may put them up for sale. Will let you guys know what I decide.

Beautiful drums!

I like Gold Sparkle too.

$2000+ seems fair market these days....but I don't know much about the price of Ludwigs. My 4pc late 50's Gretsch Gold Sparkle 20/12/14 with matching 5.5x14 snare appraised at $2400 (Rob Cook) a few years ago.

Very nice drums you have there! Enjoy!

Hey guys. Ive decided to sell the drum set. Played around with them a little bit. Sure brought back memories of when I played in school. Unfortunately I don't have any memories of my dad playing because I was to young to remember. I truly would rather have someone that would enjoy the drum set having them. Would rather not ship but will at buyers expense. More than willing to take more pictures to ensure the buyer the condition of the drum set. Thinking the price should be around $1800 for now. Will certainly consider offers or trades.

Thanks, Bill
