Try it with the toms on the bass. I think you will be surprised. This ain't your everyday bass drum...:)
+ 1000. I play 2 up mounted off the bass drum all the time.
Scott - consider the 20 faucet style T-rods sold! PM me details. I'd like to put the rush on this one. I'm dying to get these together so I can play them.
BTW - the other T-rods are from a Ludwig 'Standard' bass drum.
Jinx - The shells are so thin! Like an 1/8th or 3/16ths thick. I know it's strong because of the glass, but I'm genuinely leery about putting all that weight on it. I'll take your word for it that it can handle the load, I just don't want to do it. That shell was built to sing and project. I want it free and unencumbered. Just a personal preference.
I discarded the Swivo idea. Holes won't match up and it'll mean drilling 'new holes' which I refuse to do. BTW, I'd like to meet the jamoke that assembled these drums! One spur mount is higher on one side of the bass drum than the other. The Tama tom mount was a later addition as well. The holes for the retaining screws are -all- blown out toward the outside of the shell. All other holes are clean. Must have been an amateur installation. The guy didn't use the right drill bits, he didn't clean up the holes after he drilled them and the dude didn't measure squat. Probably didn't know how to read a ruler. Sloppy work.
The shells are an impressive thing. So thin yet so strong. The fiberglass has a grain! It runs around the shell. There are these small, rectangular tags in the drums with Allen Blaemire's name and location in Cali. I got a little nostalgic when I saw the tags for the first time. I'll post a photo of one later.
I can't wait to get these cleaned and assembled. Waiting on some new heads as we speak. The bass drum is detailed and ready for the heads. Tomorrow I'll tackle the cleaning/polishing of the rest of the kit. I still need a 22" Ludwig bass drum hoop. Anybody? Quick sale!
Scotty - get in touch! I'm ready to rock & roll over here!
John

You're getting green? How many/which lugs? Mine is the orange 6 1/2x14 in posts 42 and 43 of this thread. It was one of the pcs. made for the Chicago show.
The drum is capable of so much more than my current skill level allows. Goes from a whisper to CRACK.BOOM.BAM! Loudest snare I've hit.

I opted for the two rows of ten lugs because it looked sweet in the photo on their website. Of course, now that I go back and look at yours....
It will go into my rental inventory so I am hoping to turn some Nashville drummers onto the Blaemire legacy and the Jenkins/Martin brand. If I am successful, then that is great. If not, I will still have a really cool snare drum and that is enough for me.
