I've been thinking about the excitement that was generated over this kit for sale, and it brought my thoughts full circle. This pic is of the original kit that Jerry restored, green Blaemire shells wrapped in black, just like Purdie's kit. If it wasn't for Jerry's restoration of this kit, I don't really think that this Blaemire rebirth would have ever happened. What an amazing journey this has been.

Aw, Greg, this is killing me! That's what -I- want! Did Jinx add any kind of protective coating after the stripping/refinishing, or is that just how the raw shells look?

Incredible looking set of drums. Blaemires are in a class all their own. Bowing

Geez, mine even have the same Ludwig hardware as yours...my kit 'could' look just like yours.

Oh, the pain!!!!

BTW - It's a done deal! I just wired the funds to Vinny from my bank to his. Just a matter of time now before they are here in front of me. Photos when they arrive!

John,

I'm sure Jerry will chime in, but I know he slightly tinted them to even out the color, then sprayed some sort of lacquer finish. I know I was kind of bummed when I got my Blaemire shells, then found out they weren't going to look very good raw. We decided it was best to wrap them. For me though, its the sound that these drums produce, that I really love. I also love the way they came out wrapped, plus its always cool when people look through the clear heads and wonder whats up with those green shells.;)

BTW, that last pic is a set-up I came up with for this last weekends latin-type gig.

Greg - Gotcha, I had no idea that Jerry had to do all that extra work on them to make them look decent. He did a spectacular job on yours, they look killer in the raw green. I agree, sound before looks! All I care about is having a set of drums that make the little hairs stand up on the back of my neck when I play them. Judging by every sound file I ever heard of Blaemire drums (not to mention all the Hal Blaine hits I've had in my head and my ears since I was a kid,) that I'll be very happy with this kit.

You lucky dog! That set-up for the Latin gig looks awesome and like it's going to be huge fun to play it.

Thanks, Greg. Again, -very helpful- information.

Jinx - Question... would it violate any company secrets to discuss the bearing edges on these drums? I'm curious what kind of edges Allen put on his shells. 45's, vintage style 30 degree round-overs, maybe straight-ahead round-overs like Gretsch, or Slingerland?

John

PS - Could you please email me a copy of that Blaemire logo you have on your bass drum head? I want to print one out for my drums!

Just so you know John, that natural green kit is Jerry's. Mine is the white kit, with a few natural snares and timbale.
