Watching this seven year old made me want to throw my sticks away. This kid is only seven... imagine what he'll be able to do in another ten years!

Yep~! I saw this on FB a while back and thought the same thing. Kid has a bright future.
BTW John I like your new sig line. I saw that one recently too. Cracked me up! :D
My sticks are in the bin already. Man that young fellow can play.
As you said Purdie, imagine what he'll be like a few years down the track!
Keep on Pl
Stevo.
And to think it took me a week to be able to sit on the throne without falling off! My sticks are in the trash!! Mind BlowiBowing

The thing that really got me was that sh*t-eating grin he has on his face the whole time. He's having so much fun it reminds me of why I started playing drums in the first place. He has a look of concentration through most of it, he's really focused on what he's doing, but I just love his spontaneous smiles as he plays. You can see on his face and in his eyes the pure joy he's feeling as he plays. Screw the money and fame, that great feeling you get just from playing is what it's really all about.

As good as this kid is, I kept thinking he's only 7.
How many hours must he have already spent practicing?
Did he as a 4 yr old say "Hey Mom & Dad, I think I'll take up drumming!" or did dad give him a little "encouragement"?
It's too bad kids don't have time to be kids anymore.
I was thinking the same thing.Childhood....may or may not be passing him by,and being a kid,is a huge stage in his development as a ....person.The largest non contact competative sport in this country is....parenting.If you don't believe that,go to a little league or bantam football game. It's an eye opener.
Mose OT,the kid is amazing, but is he just parroting,or really playing?

Don't worry about him! That talent the kid has is going to serve him well for all of his life. Drums are -not- a solo instrument, nobody goes to a theater or club to see a show called, 'An evening with Steve Gadd.' His talent on drums is going to get him into all kinds of music situations not to mention all the attention he'll get socially, from his peers and others. He's going to be fine. It didn't look to me like he was being forced to play. On the contrary and as I noted earlier, I've rarely seen a kid look more blissful and happy doing anything than this little guy does while he plays his drums.
You'll be hearing from this kid in the future. That's natural, inborn talent he demonstrates. He'll go far if he pursues it.
