Brought home Standards tonight. Last viewed: 0 seconds ago

I got a pretty good deal on some standards tonight with some "extras" that hopefully make it worth it. I don't plan to keep these but I thought Id share. I actually had to make the deal with the guy over the phone and send my father to go get the drums because I was already committed to go to the local fire works with the fam. Dad stepped in to help and still made the fire works! Dads are awesome!

Unfortunately no toms. Came with some timbale toms but they have B/O badges and had standard mounts drilled on. Got a 60's acro also and some zildjian platinum cymbals with the blue or purple ink.

What is the name of this wrap?

No idea what the wrap is called but very cool! Cherish those dads while you can.

Nothing special here but I like them.

Curtis - Really nice drums! Those Standard kits used the same shells as the high end stuff, nothing wrong with those drums at all! Nice find.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

The finish is Blue Strata.....nice tubs and as the above member said, they are the same type of shells as the good stuff. Only difference being is most of the Ludwig Standards had the speckled finish applied. A few of them out there have white interiors.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

They are great drums. I say this as someone who has never liked Ludwig drums ...EVER. Then, when I got a set of Ruby Red Strata Standards, I immediately liked these drums. The one bad feature on this set is the horrible plating on the cheapo lugs that are all pimply and pitted. Some day I may replace all of the lugs with bowtie lugs because the hole spacing is identical. 44 bass and tom lugs plus 8 snare drum lugs might cost me as much as I paid for the drums.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Those look nice.

Can you do me a favor and look inside for date stamps? They are sometimes seen on Granitone finished interiors. If you find any date stamps, please get back with me with the dates and serial numbers from your set. I am continuing to gather information on Standards to improve the dating guide published in late 2013.

I don't know if you're responding to me. But, anyway, I'll answer. There are no date stamps to be seen on the Ruby Strata drum Granitone interiors.

I was actually responding to the original poster, but I am happy to get information (date stamps and associated serial numbers) from anyone with Ludwig Standards.

Pick up some spare lugs. You will need them from time to time.

The kit is fine, nobody needs more than a kick snare and floor:)

Beauties but Ludwig standard lugs have to be hands down the most boring lugs ever. Not ugliest. Just boring.
