Camco 24" Oaklan?? Last viewed: 5 hours ago

Loading...

I recently purchased a Camco 13 14 16 24 that is in need of much TLC. I have one reservation. The bass drum is a thicker shell without reinforcement rings. The drum all looks original, but I haven't dug into it too far yet. Is there any chance that Camco might have outsourced the 24 shell in that old of a kit? Looking for any info??? Thank You.

First off, WELCOME!

What era are the drums from? Are they US made Camco, or Tama/Hoshino era Camco (Camco in name only)?

Pictures would be very helpful.

I will get some pics up soon. Everything about the drum looks original, All of the hardware is correct, the shell looks to be a similar clear coat inside, and the badge is still tight and in place. The badge is Oaklan, and I have seen it stated that 24" kicks in those days were special order only. I don't know that to be correct information though. Thanks, Ryan

24" bass drums from Oaklawn are rare but not unheard of. I've never seen a Camco shell from any of the eras w/o rerings.

1961 George Way Blue Sparkle 20/12/15
1961 George Way Jelly Bean 20/12/14 w/4.5x14
1960’s Camco Oaklawn Champagne 20/12/14/16w/5x14

Pictures as promised. They have most original parts, and I have most of the tom mount. I'm missing 2 mufflers, and the hoops aren't tall boy. They have no extra holes drilled, but they have been painted twice. Like I said they need much TLC. Hopefully this works. If not, I will try again later. Thanks. (Would also like to take a dork moment and say I know I goofed on the OAKLAWN, but now Oaklan is stuck as the post heading)

That's the Real Deal! Are you considering selling them?

Slingalud,

Thank you for the info. Do you know why the 24 is Jasper? Did Jasper supply them before they had the tooling to build their own? I would just like to be as informed as I can be. Thank You,

P.S.- I tried to message you back, but your inbox is full. You can make me an offer, as anything is "for sale". I am just currently having a fun time with owning my first set of Camcos!!
