I have a chance to get a Camco kit for my gold sparkle Ludwigs and a couple cymbals. The Camco looks like a walnut finish with the cloud badge, I'm not sure what year they are from. It looks like it's in good to very good condition with a 13,16,22 and a 12 that needs hardware. There is a double tom arm and no extra holes. Any opinions? They look very similiar to these, thanks.

Hey, if you can get a set of Camcos for a Ludwig kit + a couple of cymbals, you're coming out way ahead in the trade, value-wise.
1965 Ludwig Hollywood
1970 Ludwig Jazzette
Find out if they're Oaklawn, Chanute or LA. Oaklawn have the greatest collector cache but they're all usually pretty great.

Well it sounds like a terrific deal regardless of the era. The Oaklawns are usually sought out by the collectors and the Keller shelled L.A. era are the ones most studio musicians are looking for. The early Camco & Geo Way 3 and 4ply drums remind me of the Ludwig, Leedy, Slingerland type 3ply shells and are similar, but more like a hand made Italian sports car verses a Chevy or a Ford.
I agree with another post before me. If you can trade one of the most common, and easily replaceable drum sets plus a couple of cymbals for a very scarce and collectible set, what are you waiting for? They worked well for me in 1964, and would work well for you or me today.
JOHNNY you have a PM
70's Pearl Fiberglass Ivory
Can't disagree with anything above. I think my Ludwig's are great, but the Camco's... You'll be amazed.
Don't pass them up. I had a set of the LA Camco's back in the early 80's and sold them, big mistake!! Hardware is not the greatest, but put the toms on stands with RIMS mounts and you'll be groovin. The finish looks great too. Good luck .
I just found out from the seller that the drums had a Pearl type tom mount put on the kick, so there are extra holes. The rest of the kit is original made in Chanute. Still a good deal?
BTW, the drums were owned by Jamie Oldaker who played with Eric Clapton back in the 70's.
