Chicago Drum Show 2009 Last viewed: 44 minutes ago

Great show, great venue. No complaints!

A couple of reports from the drum show scene. This is the first year I handed out business cards. The front had the blue sparkle like the main web site and the back was gold sparkle like the forum. (designed by a forum member)

The main reason was recognition about the web site. - IT WORKED - So every time I handed the card to dealers, sellers, people they ALL said I go to that site and recommend that site all of the time!

On that level it was great... Of course it was drum show pricing, but people buying shells, heads, sticks and other drum stuff found what they needed. Some rare drums worked their way through the ranks of the vintage elite.

I purchased some Japanese drum badges, color swatches and a few catalog pages and misc books.

No drums this year! and here is why... This past Friday my wife was going to the neighborhood garage sale and low and behold (after a quick phone call) she found a Rogers Super Ten (oval badge/script logo) with the bag, generic stand, sticks and stick holder for.... Drum Roll Please.... $30! We have been looking at garage sales for years and this was just a lucky day!

As you know, there are great raffles at the show and I normally do not stick around that late, but this time I did and sure enough... My number was called for a New George Way snare drum!

Cool, my first prize in years! Then it came time for the grand prize Craviotto snare drum presented by Steve Maxwell... Drum Roll Please.... another ticket number of mine was called...

This is not humanly possible... and after a slight murmer from the crowd I immediately gave it back! Applause! Then a Rob Cook personal testimonial about your forum Admin and his selfless preservation of drum history online and an introduction to the crowd....... Someone else gets that drum! Now what was that guys name... ;)

What do I need three new snare drums for? I already have 30 other snares and have owned Craviotto snares before.

The George Way is nicely built and in a super white gloss....

So, there are 100 drumming behind the scenes stories I can tell and info about the business that I could share, but that is for another time.

Photos for the people that could not attend. I do not spend a lot of time on these because there are much better photographers and slide shows online! Just no time to perfect photography and clean up and size all of the photos.
