Fair Offer for the lot..? Last viewed: 55 seconds ago

I would offer $350 and explain to him that you have other costs involved and then there is the mystery aspect to it. If he indicates some specifics, then I would go higher if it seems safe. If he rejects, I would say 400 and then stick to it. You would easily have 100 into van rental, gas, time, etc. - and $500 total investment seems very fair to me even without knowing what it involves for sure.

Think about it - even with what you see, it would not be hard to sell off for $500. Then consider that it would just take one discovery to send it to the moon! Could be some gem cymbals in that cymbal bag. Snare case could have a gem in there as well. So many possibilities. $500 is a great deal from you side - as even an MIJ kit could sell off for $200 easy. Not going to be hard to replace a $500 investment at all. We haven't even started to talk hardware.....there is probably $500 in hardware alone there.

I wish I had that deal in front of me!

I would even have a hard time sleeping until I got all that home.

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

This is what he got back to me with when I asked if he had a basic list of the drums in the pile.

" There's 2 or 3 mij partial sets. A 70s maple ludwig, a white 80s tana set, early rootbeer swirl premier missing a floor tom, ...

I m going to keep the 62 silver sparkle....you don't have to rent a van..come over give me a price on what you want and I can drive it back to your place....like I said I'm not looking for top dollar just fair prices ..leaving you room to make money too. Give me a call me can set something up. I'm just tired of the eBay deal and the wife wants to redo the basement "

I think an empty van to be filled and a few hundred will make the wife happy. Anyone else agree?

I'm not impressed. The only thing that looked interesting to me is the Ludwig silver sparkle. As I said earlier it looks like the floor room and BD are also there. I'm guessing they're super classics. If they are off the table what's the point?. You'll probably end up with a basement full of junk and it will be your turn to try to get rid of it. What are you seeing that will make it worth the effort?

I think if I can get it all for $300 or less the 70's Ludwigs & premier make it worth the trip. And if he is willing to either drive it all here, or meet me that makes it better. I'll see where he is at price wise, again all that for $300 I think is decent. Anything more and I'd feel hesitant.

I agree... there's more than $500 in MIJ drums, cases, cymbals, and stands there, and there's profit to be made if you want to spend all the time selling it off piece by piece. Even selling off each tom or stand at $10 or $15, you're going to make money, but again, if you want to spend all that time piecing it out. Obviously the seller didn't think it was worth it; that's why he's selling it all as a lot.

I think you'll find a few good items in that lot. Let us know what the inventory is once you get it home and sort it all out. You might get more than a few offers from members right here (I'll even make you an offer on the Rogers Swivo pedal which that blue MIJ tom is leaning against).

I'd buy the lot for 5 just for the fun of sorting it all out. Won't make your money back tomorrow but in the long haul many folks may get what they have been needing for years. What happens to the lot if you pass on it, the dump?

Nothing special here but I like them.

I think you could easily make your cash back on this lot. And then some. There's gotta be some hidden gems in there. It can't be all MIJ and even so, there's more than 500 bucks worth of MIJ in there. At a glance it seems like there's some real tonnage there.

Did he say what's in the snare drum case on top of the amp? That's the stuff that can have some interest. Heck is the amp part of the deal too? I think you'd do pretty well if the price was right.

Considering the stuff I see in the picture and the possibility of hidden drums and parts, I think you should give it a shot!

You'll never know if there's other interesting drums...

If you have the money, time, room space to keep it, and you really like vintage drums go for it.

You can sell the parts you don't want and keep what you like, recovering part of what you spent (or even more).

Cheers
