On a side note....Bun E told me that Ginger, him, and B3 "burned one" once....

Well,in their case,maybe it was really 3 or 4!

that must have made for a interesting conversation!

Ok, I'll take a crack at it. Here's a pick of the badge:

According to the VDG, It's the blue and brass Elkhart badge. 1949-1950.

That's the best I can do, but it narrows it down to two years. Anything someone can add to this?

Hey!Thanks for that.......

and, going by the badge,we now know that it is a ply drum!

The plot thickens........just have to figure out the month from either 49-50.

BEC,

Curious that he would cut down his bass drums as I believe 10" and 12" depths were factory-stock shells and available. I assume (because of all the added Rogers swivo mounts and spurs) that he was not a signed Ludwig endorser as you were, and therefore Ludwig was not continually providing him with whatever he wanted. The holes in the basses show that those Swivo spurs changed locations a few times, so he must have just kept modifying his drums to suit his needs. I'm glad this old thread was resurrected. I remember GB being one of the more interesting and innovating drummers at that time.
