Aaron Comess (Spin Doctors) offered me $2,000 plus ship, for my personal kit ,a ex/n.mint 20,12,14 BDP RB Gretsch set when he was here at my house around 18 years ago.

I only had around $400 into them,so I said yes! That was 1 sweet kit!

They did an article on him in MD not so long ago,and he still has the kit!

OH well,went to a great drummer/home.

Vinny - for me, it would depend on how replaceable the kit is. If it's a rare set of drums that you can't find anywhere, (Oaklawn Camco's for example) then I say keep them. You'll never find another one like it. But, if with a little patience and luck you know you can find another one like it, then take the $ and run. Replace your kit if you can and do some good for yourself with the extra cash.

Which kit Vinny?

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I haven't been offered a lot of money for my Ludwig Downbeat. I've gotten TONS of compliments on it, though, and mostly from non-drummers. There's something magical about this kit, apparently, but I'm sure I could find another one. It's the last kit I would sell, but I would probably still take an offer for it, if the price was right. They're just drums.

I had a WMP Rogers set 14x20 x 2 8x12,9x13,16x16,16x18 I had it and gigged it for years I said i never would sell them well i got offered so much money for them it was not even fair i thought out of kindness i should get this guy a psychiatric evaluation so i would not feel bad well bye bye now i can never replace them but I am ok with that it has got me full circle back to ludwigs 45 years later started with them and it looks like I will finish with them so it just depends on if you can be ok with the change other than that there are thousands of great drums just waiting for you to hit them... good luck either way...Mister T

I was offered LARGE monies for two separate kits; a 1965 red glass Rogers jazz kit and an uber rare 3 ply 1979 Slingy oak kit.

Money is nothing more than a tool to be used to obtain that which you want or require.

IF you already HAVE in your possession that which you want or require ... it stands to reason that money loses value as a variable within that particular equation.

The only force that would propell that forward could only be the money itself ... the desire for it.

It's not a tough one to work through.

Get hypnotized forever ;)

If it's a kit or a snare that's in your main set up, then hang onto it, unless the $ is REALLY good and you're cool with else you've got.

Well you could always take the Mike Wood approach like me. If you need the money and have no choice then sell. However if you don't exactly need the money and you love the kit you have to think about 2 things. While he did offer you 5k for the kit, would it be worth more than that in the future? Also what is it worth to you? Personally if it was my favorite kit I wouldn't sell it. Just my thoughts.

Vinny,

Listen to that liitle voice inside you...Sometimes money isn't everything...Give it some time and think it out...If the buyer is serious about it, he will give you the time...You may or may not ever get a kit like it again!! Good luck and the choice you make will be the right one...

Cheers
