Mark,

Such nostalgia...Dual, BSR, Anthony's Fish Groto! I still have my Dual turntable around here somewhere and a couple of Beatles LPs in "near mint" condition. Some other classic vintage LPs also...Chicago, Bob Seger. It's been 4-5 years since I went through them to decide which ones to keep.

I DJ'ed in college,1978, for a little while at KLC the 1/2 watt giant of Palentine Hill in Portland, Ore. The station "manager" said I could have any albums marked "DUPLICATE". So I grabbed about 50 albums... I need to find the pile and see what the heck is in it.

I think there was one album in there with Hendrix and Cannonball Adderly playing together... at least that's what I remember.. it was just a plain white cover with black writing... Hope I didn't leave that whole pile in the back of my old van. :(

Not a Guru... just interested..

Keep them all!!! I made the big mistake, years ago, of digitizing many of my valued LP's, which meant most of my Beatles collection, and then sold them to a record store for pennies on the dollar. I have no qualms in saying I was a fool LoLoLoLo

I think a big factor is not having space for our collections... whether it's drums or vinyl. The same holds true for CD's. While I've already digitized the vast majority of my CD collection, I still hold onto all the CD's. They're in boxes and taking up space, but I'm not getting rid of them!

Finally, I think it's great that so many of us share other common interests, besides our beloved drums! I was just given a vintage early 70's Marantz 2010 receiver in trade for computer work. It just needs a good cosmetic and electronic cleaning and will be like-new. Even has the original walnut case. My girlfriend's house is becoming a vintage drum and stereo museum!

I am a major vinyl collector. The funny thing is I started collecting because I played the drums. I found that playing along to records was alot easier than cds. I dont care how good the anti shock was it was no match for the bass drum. And not to mention vinyl sounds better.

I still play and collect vinyl.

I also look regularly for 45's. (Mostly doo-wop and r&b) The presence on some of them just jumps out.

I gotta try that out. Interesting. Get another turntable for the drum room ...

I still play my old Big Band, Jazz albums on my TEAC multi player/CD recorder. I can play the album and burn it to a CD with all the crackles from the old vinyl. This way it sounds like I have a turntable in my truck!
