I bought a pair of bass drum hoops off of ebay and they seem too narrow.
They measure about 1 1/2". Is that right?
These are for a Slingerland drum.

Should be around 1 3/4".. If my metric conversion is correct... Sounds like they may have been cleaned up with a sander... but 1/4" should not be an issue...
Cheers
Bums me out. I'm trying to make this set right.
I just measured them again with a better tape and they're actually 1 3/8 wide, that seems too narrow.
I'm going to send them back to the seller and get my money back.
Besides them being too narrow, one is BDP and the other is blue pearl.
I can live with the inlay, I can always replace the strip, but being too narrow will throw off the look I'm going for.
I hate ebay sometimes. These were advertised as a Slingerland set, they may be for a different company. They don't look sanded.
I just measured the hoops on my 1967 rogers,1 1/2,inlay is 1/2.
According to Jack Lawton the Slingerland hoops for 60's,70's (and maybe more)are 1 1/2" with a 1/2" inlay.Jim

That's great info. These are maybe an 8th shy of that which is so small I doubt anyone would notice.
All I would need to do is change the inlay on the one hoop.
That seems a little narrow to me, but I guess its right.
Thanks Jim.
One thing no one has brought up is the fact that the width of the hoop has a direct relationship with the geometry of the pedal. If you are too close a Speed King might brush the head. I have had issues with deep rims using a Swiv-o-matic. I'm sure there are others...

That's actually a great point, may be the deciding factor if these will work.
I'll check it tomorrow.
Thanks for the tip!!!
Just for the record... Measured mine again (Slingerland '77 hoops).. Measure 43mm which = 1 11/16".. and a Speed King is just a little too close to the head for my liking..
Cheers
John
