Information Request - Ludwig's 'B' lines Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Loading...

Hello folks!

Another forum member and myself are doing some research. We're going to attempt to timeline and document Ludwig's 'B' lines of drums, including:

Standard (original)

Standard (2nd issue)

Combo

Combo II

S/L (Standard Line)

Rocker

Rocker II

I'm mostly interested in information on American shells, but I won't turn down anything.

What I want is pictures, badge pictures showing serial #'s, serial #'s and stamped or written dates from the shells, hardware descriptions and pictures of same. The more pictures, the merrier!

This is a good place to start for now, please do not reply with any information through the Private Messaging. It just tends to muck up the works of the thing. Instead, please email me directly at: drums at fishwlatz dot com

Thanks in advance for any and everything! Bowing

Craig,

This is great! I for one would like to see more info (than what is available, which is great info but not complete) on this kind of stuff. Particularly serial number information on the B/W badges.

I have a set of B/W Ludwig Rockers (4-ply shells, clear interiors) that I need to get started on. As soon as I get the chance I'll check to see if there's dates stamps on the inside (not sure there is) and then forward you the info. Anything else I can do to help out, let me know...

Hi LD,

Yep, I'm very aware of those pages, I've used them often. The information is a bit sketchy in spots though, especially hardware differences and changes. What we intend is an in depth and comprehensive paper that will include time lines and shell descriptions and information. Yes, some of our information will mirror, and be drawn from what is already available. However, our intention is for this to be much more detailed.

Thanks!

Hi Bill!

Great! That is exactly what is needed for this. The B/W, Combo and Educator lines are very undocumented, anywhere. The Standard line(s) are a bit more documented, but not much more. Some, if not most of these are desirable American shells... it's time to get them on paper. Your pictures and badge / shell / hardware info will be MUCH appreciated!

Thanks!

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
