About the cheaper insurance rates for union members; In my area, the only union gigs are the symphony and musicals. I play niteclubs mostly. By the time I paid union dues and fines for working non-union jobs, it would hardly pencil out. I hate insurance companys, but sure would like to have insurance on my gear. Not likely to happen though.
