Ludwig Rocker Questions? Last viewed: 1 minute ago

From K.O.

The same thing is happening with the Standards.

Yes totally. You couldn't give this stuff away at one point.

Now everyone is catching on. How about those aluminum shelled standard snares? Good stuff, all of it. Add to that the fact that undressed you can find paint ready shells (for the most part).

Most of the undressed tubs I've seen are candidates for a grain or clear finish. Some mismatched grain here and there and maybe an obvious seam but I've yet to find one truly unworthy of a paint job with minimal prep work. Worst case you're doing a solid color.

I should shut up now. I'm spilling the beans on one of Luddy's best kept secrets.

I worked on my friend's Rocker II's this weekend and am just waiting on some new heads to finish them up. His are white with Standard lugs and the brown speckled (granitone?) interiors, 22/12/13/16. Bass has metal hoops. The serial numbers all start with 613xxxx, so I'm guessing 1986 for this kit. It was filthy, but cleaned up really well. The only real issue is one of the bass drum leg mounts was missing a wing screw most likely because it wormed it's way out somewhere along the line. I had something I could use in it's place. A few days of TLC it this Rocker II is ready to rawk again.

These drums feel heavy and solid. Edges are sharp. The factory wrap job on the drums and inlay leave MUCH to be desired, however. I left my Rogers kit at his place for rehearsals. I'm hoping some new Evans EC2s will have this kit singing so I can bring my kit home and and use the Rocker IIs for rehearsal.

Ec2's might kill them.

Emad on the kick, g1 or g2 coats on the toms (g1 clear below).

Or Ambs/Emp coats w/clear Ambs below. Not too up to date w/Remo kick heads.
