I've been on the market for a Ludwig school festival for a little while now and I was wondering what you master vintage wizards would value this drum at? It would be a nice case scenario because the seller is wIthin driving distance and I love 8" deep drums. Thanks everyone!

A pretty drum, and if truly original, includes brass hoops and brass lugs. It's hard to judge the value on certain drums, these don't come up very often, but there's also not much demand for the size.

I think $315 is fair price, hardly a steal though. You could always make an offer, but if someone else does and it's any higher than yours, you'll lose out for your effort to save a little money. If a bid gets placed, and you want the drum, you're guaranteed to spend more than the $315 BIN.

I'd say if you dig the drum, just buy it now. Since you live nearby, you'll save shipping too.

Timmy this one your looking at is a preserial numbered badge model like mine is, so Bermuda is correct it should have brass hoops top and bottom, NOT STEEL. if you go in person take a magnet and test the hoops, the magnet will stick to steel hoops not brass.

I noticed that yeah! What did you mean by buggered? Okay excellent! I will definitely use that trick to test if its brass because that would have been my next question! Thank you!!

Brass lugs? They'd be a zinc alloy like all other lugs (except tube lugs and B&B Rogers) but the hoops should be chrome over brass. Grommet does look odd but the wrap looks original. If the wrap goes into the scarf joint it is definitely original. Cool drum.

Hmm, very interesting guys, thanks for lookin' out! I will definitely look into the badge in person. I do appreciate that!

K.O. You're saying the lugs wont be brass? Just hoops? I shouldn't be alarmed if the magnet sticks to the lugs? Thanks for the wrap tip!

Something just doesn't feel right about this drum. I'm trying to figure out why the badge grommet would have been fooled with. The strainer looks awfully low on the shell as well. Its a neat drum though and probably sounds great. I've got one of these that had a shell repair and I still love it.
