My first vintage K Zildjian ride! Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Fellas! I just ordered my very first vintage K ride! It's at a nice crash worthy weight. I'll use this as my left side ride...it's a 20 inch. I'm going to have some rivets installed on this beauty. Pics to follow soon!

Can we assume that it came to you pre-drilled to accommodate rivets?

No pre drilled holes. I'll make sure I get someone who knows what they're doing though!

I really hope that person tells you not to do it. Why modify a vintage cymbal to your taste instead of buying what you want? Seems like it would reduce the value and put it at risk of cracking easier.

I agree with Legacy, there are plenty old Ks with rivets out there. I'm sure you can easily sell this one down the road if you just aren't happy with it and get one with rivets...rather than altering a cymbal that is becoming quite rare.

I'm no guru, just a vintage drum junkie!

You may want to rethink drilling an old K for rivets. There is no guarantee it will improve the voice, & may even ruin it. There are other ways to get a sizzle into a cymbal w/ out drilling. The old Camco cymbal sizzler is very effective, & there are numerous old drummers tricks to get the sound. They are all reversible, adjustable, & will not put the integrity or value of your cymbal in jeopardy.

One photo is of a normal cymbal, the other is a Camco sizzle that was modified to fit my 28" A.

If you drill a hole in an old K, you need a hole drilled in your head.

I agree. Please do not drill the cymbal.

Have you actually heard it?

Never play it the same way once.

Nope! Taking a leap of faith. It's just over 1900 grams.
